1. Who we are
Yerrme ("we," "our," or "us") is operated by Believe In Us LLC, a company based in Georgia, United States. This policy describes how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use the Yerrme mobile app, the website at yerrme.com (including invite links, business applications, support pages, and admin tools we operate), and related services.
2. Age requirement
Yerrme is intended for people 16 years of age or older. If you are under 16, do not use Yerrme or provide us with personal information. If we learn we have collected information from someone under 16, we will delete it. When you sign up, we collect your date of birth to verify that you meet this requirement and to apply age-appropriate defaults (for example, stricter privacy settings for users we classify as minors under 18).
3. Information we collect
We collect information you provide and data from your use of our services:
- Account information: email (for email sign-in), handle/username, date of birth (for age verification; not shown publicly as a full birthdate), profile photo, bio, optional audio intro, theme and UI preferences, Top 8 list, optional profile widgets, DM privacy settings, and related profile fields stored in your account.
- Invite-only signup: invite code used at registration, who invited you (if applicable), and how many invites you may send—so we can operate invite-based access and prevent abuse.
- Content you create: shouts (text, media, and approximate location—see below), echoes, likes, comments on threads, and messages in chats or message requests.
- Location (posts and map): while you use the app, we use your device location to show nearby content, the map, and distance context. We do not use location in the background on the device as described in our app permissions. For each new shout or echo, we store only an approximate position: before saving to our database, coordinates are adjusted by a random offset of roughly 10–15 miles so your precise GPS position is not what gets stored with the post. Others see the general area of a post on the map, not your exact coordinates. Optional features like hiding your area label may use coarse buckets (for example aggregated map intensity) rather than precise points where implemented.
- Push notifications: if you opt in, we store a device push token (via Expo / Apple / Google push services) so we can deliver notifications you ask for (for example mentions, echoes, or Top 8 activity). You can turn off notifications in your device settings.
- Public / discoverable profile data: limited profile information (such as handle and avatar) may be mirrored for search, feeds, and discovery as implemented in the app, so other signed-in users can find and interact with you according to your settings.
- Safety and reports: when you report content or another user, we collect what you submit (reason, optional note, context such as chat or shout IDs) to review and enforce our rules.
- Device and diagnostics: device type, OS, app version, and similar technical data as processed by our infrastructure providers, to run the service and fix issues.
- Business applications (yerrme.com/business): business name, category, contact email, phone, website, notes, and payment-related data processed by Stripe when you apply for or pay for business features.
4. How we use your information
We use this information to provide and improve Yerrme: accounts, feeds, map, chat, invites, notifications, business onboarding and billing, safety and moderation (including reviewing reports and restricting content that violates our terms), fraud and abuse prevention, and legal compliance. We do not sell your personal information as that term is commonly understood.
5. Third-party services
We use service providers that process data on our behalf, including:
- Google Firebase (authentication, database, storage, and related infrastructure).
- Google Maps (map display in the app; Google's terms and policies apply when map tiles load).
- Stripe (payments for business features on the website).
- Expo / Apple Push Notification service / Firebase Cloud Messaging (as applicable) to deliver push notifications when enabled.
Each provider has its own privacy policy. We may also disclose information when required by law or to protect rights, safety, and security.
6. Data retention
We keep your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the service, resolve disputes, enforce our agreements, and comply with law. After you delete your account, we may retain some data for a limited period for backups, fraud prevention, or legal requirements, then delete or anonymize it. Safety-related logs may be retained for a limited period as described in-app where applicable.
7. Your choices
You can update profile and many settings in the app. You can delete your account through the in-app flow where offered. You can disable location or push notifications in your device settings (some features require location while you use the app). Business applicants may contact us to update or withdraw application data. For privacy requests, email support@yerrme.com.
8. Security
We use industry-standard measures to protect your data. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure; you use our services at your own risk.
9. Changes
We may update this policy from time to time. We will post the updated policy on this page and change the "Last updated" date. Continued use after changes means you accept the updated policy.
